Mike Martin has acknowledged and acclimated movement as a key part of his life since his early years – geographically, corporally and mentally.
Although more inclined towards nature walks and rock hunts; chess and calisthenics found firm roots in Mike as a preteen. In adolescence, team sports, weightlifting and martial arts began to pave the way for what would be important disciplines well into adulthood (with the two former in the driver’s seat).
After college in 2000, Mike’s passion and focus shifted significantly towards martial arts which eventually led to Muay Thai (kick boxing) in 2005, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (grappling) in 2008 and mixed martial arts in 2011. He’s been instructing Muay Thai since 2013 and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2016 – the latter while actively training in Budokon, which embodies movements and principles of martial arts, yoga and mindful living.
